This body of work was made between 2010-11 when I found myself in the desert as a fellow at the Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program in Southeastern New Mexico. The surroundings outside my studio comprised desert scrub, alfalfa farms, and a constantly shifting desert floor beneath my feet. Another important impact came from the electrical plants and propane tanks strewn around the emptied landscape. As I confronted and examined my extreme sense of dislocation in this alien landscape. One of the works, Around, represents a 360 degree view of the horizon as seen from my studio, complete with broken down farm equipment, crop sprayers, gates, fences, and telephone wires.
